In pregardened soil it used to be so much tamer, digging in proper from the beginning. I found a 9" forward, 6" back movement to be very effective to get deep tilling. Oh yeah, the handles fold forward and it clings on my storage wall between the studs, very effectively.
The handiest poor I have is that it is designed for other folks underneath 6' tall. I both needed to maintain my arms at my facets (less control) or lean forward, and even then, just one finger held the trigger down, which was once pretty tiring for that finger. BTW, the lack of a continuing on possibility is a critical security problem. Do not attempt to overide for simplicity or remedy, the cost can be painful and expensive. The 14+" path that it untils is just too extensive for cultivation in my backyard,. If there's a way to get single rather than twin per aspect replacement blades, it might seemingly be a great all season cultivator to keep down weeds and so forth.

Assembled it (including presenting my own screws for the 2 that have been speculated to be there for the handle brace) and tried it out in my garden. The soil has been used as a backyard for 7 yrs so it is certainly now not hard but the steel equipment field separated from the plastic motor housing in a minute or two. Either the 'factory' had forgotten the screws that maintain it together or they stripped out right away. First time I've ever had a refurbished item come in such bad situation. I can't counsel this product because of the plastic motor case nor can I recommend Amazon's manufacturing facility refurbish on it. Returning it and ordering a Mantis. Twice the price however I hope worth it.
